OUR WEBSITE IS MOVING.
As for us, our days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so we flourish.
Our fall family mini sessions at Lone Lake Park, Minnetonka this weekend was a BLAST! Thank you to all the amazing families who showed up and braved the fall air to capture these classic portraits. I hope to see a few holiday cards in the mail (hint hint) since I know how creative my clients get with their pictures! ;) Here are just a few of our many highlights. Enjoy! - Pamela
With the Minneapolis skyline behind them and just married, they strolled hand-in-hand at Boom Island Park celebrating their love. 6 year later, I met Chris and Jenna at Boom Island Park again but this time with two little ones in hand. I love a picture that tells a story and this setting was the perfect one to create just that.
From initial email correspondence to carefully placing wedding images in the mail I am all about making sure my clients get the most professional, personal experience - from start to finish. I limit the number of couples I accept a year to ensure just that. We enjoy a casual engagement session, and get together for coffee and drinks several times before the big day. Our wedding clients aren't just a date on the calendar a year from now. Getting to know you on the most authentic level is our priority. It puts the joy in what we do and also helps us create a wedding portfolio that truly reflects you as a couple. More often than not it feels awkward to call my clients "clients" when in fact they become friends. After 7 years in the wedding photography business I have to say this year tops it all. You know who you are... THANK YOU for making this year the best year to date. Much love. xo!
Gabby's brown eyes sparkled as she gushed about her fiance, Mike while her new ring glittered in the light of the coffee shop window. I didn't get a chance to meet Mike until a week before the wedding. But after spending an entire wedding day documenting them interact it is clear why she couldn't wait to marry her him. Her laughter.... his smiling glances... they clearly have a unspoken connection and sweet contentedness together. Isn't this, after all, why we marry our best friends?
Their outdoor wedding was everything for which they hoped. The entire day Allison twirled and laughed, reminding me of Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music. If I didn't have picture proof I'd swear her feet never touched the ground.
She likes her music loud, rocks the high heels, and thrives on the vibes of the downtown Minneapolis. A couple weeks ago I spent Friday night in the city with Paige for her senior pictures. To reflect her love of music we started out in front of the music mural made famous by Prince. And with her interest in the finer things in life she suggested photographing near the renowned Guthrie Theater and Stone Arch Bridge. And of course, I'm in love that plan! We enjoyed a lovely sunset over the skyline - and even got to witness a joyful "yes!" with a couple who got engaged on the bridge that night. I enjoyed learning about Paige as we walked around downtown. She has such a beautiful personality and spirit of adventure! And yet her roots are in the country side where she grew up. With bare feet, sundress and guitar in hand, we also photographed Paige around her childhood home with its wide open spaces, corn fields and country roads.
Thank you, Paige, for all the adventures on our Senior pictures outings! Enjoy your blog preview! - Pamela
Authentic, joyful outdoor portraits for adventure loving families
Saturday, October 8
I was photographing a farm wedding in northern Minnesota when I met Jacki. I immediately liked this girl with her bright, cheerful personality! We chatted during the wedding as she enjoys photography as well, and learned we both live in the Cities. Recently, I had the honor of photographing her Senior pictures. We met over a casual coffee to talk, and listen to her expectations about her pictures. Learning about my Seniors (before I ever take out a camera) is an important part of what I do as a Photographer. Why would anyone want their pictures to look the same as their other classmates? Every one has a different personality, interests and style to showcase.
This outdoor, adventure loving family knows how to have fun together! Happiness and laughter was the natural theme of our night. Toddlers are so much fun with all of their energy and zest for life! Mom suggested meeting at one of their favorite local parks as it marks the age when Alder loved to spend time here. I couldn't get enough of his mischievous, sweet smile and his curiosity! As a parent myself I know the challenge of getting everyone into a frame. His energy kept us all on our toes (but also one reason we have fast cameras and work quickly!) Family is where we find our True Selves but our simple, every day life together often goes undocumented. (And is one huge reason I enjoy photographing families.) Adam + Trisha, it was an honor to spend time with Alder capturing this milestone as well as your love for him. May these pictures remind Alder of how loved he was by you at "two" and always. Thank you again. - Pamela
Now Booking Limited Fall Family Mini Sessions!
When I first set out to meet this newly engaged couple at a coffee shop in northern Minnesota to talk about photography for their wedding day I had no idea that 4 years down the road I would meeting them for a family photoshoot in Edina, MN where both of our families are now living near to each other. Even more, it has been a joy to follow wedding pictures with holiday minis, a maternity session and now, their family pictures. All of this to say, I feel incredibly lucky to have a job that allows me to meet and document the lives of some of the most wonderful people. Baby Crew included! Only 3 months old handsome Crew graces my blog with his joyful smile and oh, those eyes!? Thank you, Jesse + Karla, again, for the honor of having been able to document your love as it grows into a beautiful family! - Pamela
As Nicole and I emailed back and forth I couldn't wait to meet this family in person! Getting to know my families, even before we get out the camera, is hugely important to me. And so I can ultimately get to the heart of the session I always ask this question beforehand: what do you want your children to remember from their childhood? Her response is too good not to share:

Authentic, joyful outdoor portraits for adventure loving families
Isaac and Steph drove up from Rochester to meet at Bush Lake Park in Bloomington, MN for their family session. Their daughter, Heidi, was in good spirits and ready to play after the car ride, and the cool evening air was a welcome relief after a hot, humid day. Steph thoughtfully incorporated a single white balloon to celebrate sweet baby Heidi who recently turned one! Heidi is described by her parents as a curious, happy girl who loves to snuggle. As a family, their Saturday may look like this: late breakfasts, naps, afternoon walks, face timing grandparents and relaxing on the back porch with a BBQ. It was important their pictures told the story of her family in a natural, casual environment. And that's one reason I love the the simplicity of their images - location quickly becomes the background, and joy the forefront, especially when you're enjoying family time. Thank you, Isaac + Steph, for a wonderful evening together. - Pam
Adoption is a beautiful way to grow a family. When Sara contacted me several months pregnant with what she called their "sweet surprise" I sensed her excitement to have family photos that welcomed Cameron into their world. The day finally arrived... but 4 week old Cameron wasn't too excited about having his pictures taken. However, Sara and Tyler rocked it. They were a beautiful family to work with as they stayed calm, and let the session - and the kids - go where they will. We don't mind being spontaneous so we just roll with it! And we STILL got three wiggly kids under the age of 3 into a frame - with smiling parents.
They went to the same high school but never talked. All the while Phil had a silent crush on Ashley. Everything changed the summer of 2012 when Ashley showed up at the Pony Espresso. Phil was working their family owned traveling drink stand when Ashley started buying smoothies. Every day. They began chatting on Facebook and texting when finally Phil got the courage to ask her out on a date where they enjoyed a romantic dinner.
